BauImpulse 2024 - Sustainability in residential construction | Expert forum on the grounds of the Living Lab NRW

18.09.2024|11:12 Uhr

This year's specialist forum will take place on 19 and 20 September 2024 at the Living Lab NRW in Wuppertal. BauImpulse 2024 is aimed at a specialist audience and is recognised as further training by the Chamber of Architects and the Chamber of Engineers-Bau NRW. In addition to lectures and panel discussions, practical examples and products can be viewed on site.

In cooperation with NRW.Energy4Climate and sponsored by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the specialist forum offers a multi-faceted view of the energy and building transition with four thematic blocks.

Building the energy turnaround - The energy turnaround in the construction industry is first and foremost a heat turnaround. Whether and how this can be achieved in existing buildings with heat pumps will be demonstrated and discussed. Photovoltaic systems are the method of choice for supplying buildings with electricity. The so-called ‘balcony systems’ are particularly quick and easy to install. New legal regulations simplify their implementation and stimulate the market. Electricity grids must absorb this electricity and mediate between supply and demand as intelligently as possible. Participants in this thematic block are the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, Klimaschutz im Bundestag e.V., Bergische Universität Wuppertal and Wohnstätten Genossenschaft Siegen eG.

Healthy building - Modern people spend most of their time indoors, not outdoors. The built environment should therefore be as conducive to health as possible. At the same time, however, buildings should be as airtight as possible in order to reduce heat requirements. How does this fit together? Together with NRW.Energy4Climate and the University of Wuppertal, representatives from RWTH Aachen University Hospital, TÜV Rheinland Energy & Industry and dekarbo° will discuss contemporary approaches to housing construction.

Building with moderation - The goal of creating living space that offers adequate living space but is also efficient and conserves resources can only be achieved through intelligent design and new planning implementation strategies, especially in existing buildings with sometimes inflexible floor plans. The expert forum will explore the challenges of current housing trends with representatives from the Rhineland-Westphalia Housing and Property Association, Biberach University of Applied Sciences and the non-profit housing cooperative Die Ehrenfelder eG.

Circular construction - the city as the building materials warehouse of the future? BauImpulse will discuss how circular construction already works today and what legal and economic framework conditions will be needed in the future. Expertise in this area will be provided by representatives of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Baukreisel, the Technical University of Prague and kadawittfeldarchitektur.

In addition to the presentations and panel discussions, BauImpulse offers interactive in-depth stations and the opportunity to exchange ideas with manufacturers on the Living Lab NRW site.
