Ceremonial inauguration and commissioning of a new test stand in the hydraulic engineering laboratory of the Department of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management
(Kopie 4)
The Department of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management, Prof. Dr Andreas Schlenkhoff, hosted the official inauguration and commissioning of a new test stand in the hydraulic engineering laboratory on 19 September 2024. After a brief welcome by Prof Dr Schlenkhoff and an introduction by doctoral student Mats Müller, the facility was put into operation.
The new, state-of-the-art test rig for flow measurement technology has been set up over the past few months in close collaboration with our colleague Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Daniel Bung from the FH Aachen. The test rig is used to analyse the flow through throttling devices, for example in sewer and pipe systems. The flow is recorded with high-resolution cameras and analysed using a PIV system (Particle Image Velocimetry). The collected data is then used to validate numerical simulations.
In addition to interested students, Prof Dr Bung from Aachen University of Applied Sciences, Prof Dr Stefan Kirsch, Vice-Rector for Research and Digital Affairs at the University of Wuppertal and the Vice-Dean of Research Prof Dr Tanja Siems and Vice-Dean of Teaching Prof Dr Arndt Goldack from the faculty attended the official opening and subsequent discussion.
A 360° tour of the test stand in the hydraulic engineering laboratory provides in-depth and detailed information.
