Presentation of the Urban Mining Student Award 2023/24
Winning designs impress with their architectural quality
The official award ceremony for the Urban Mining Student Awards 2023/24 took place on 3 May 2024 in Wuppertal's Schwebodrom. Christian Baierl from Renaissance AG welcomed the guests and the Rector of the University of Wuppertal, Prof Dr Wolff, gave a welcoming speech. Prof Hillebrandt then presented the individual projects:
Two first prizes of €1000 each and a subscription to Detail magazine and Detail Inspiration respectively were awarded to the team of Sarah Henn and Malte Grobenstieg from the University of Wuppertal and to Nils Henrik Benkeser from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
The second prize of €800 and an Atlas Recycling each went to Bennet Tielker and Emma Lou Fiedler from the münster school of architecture. Frederik Busch from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology was delighted to receive the third prize of €500.
Two commendations were also awarded with €300 each. These were awarded to the team of Pia Steffen and Christiane Öhmann from the University of Wuppertal and Maximilian Weiß from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. A total of 29 entries from 8 universities were submitted.
Following the award ceremony, the winners were invited to a dinner with the sponsors and judges.
